Wiregrass Cover Crop Field Day Set for March 18 in Headland
Farmers, landowners, and agricultural professionals are invited to attend the 2026 Wiregrass Cover Crop Field Day on Wednesday, March 18, at the Wiregrass Research and Extension Center in Headland, Alabama.
Hosted at the research station located at 167 East Alabama Highway 134, the event will focus on the benefits and management of cover crops, along with the latest research and field demonstrations being conducted at the Wiregrass REC.
Registration for the event will begin at 8:00 a.m. in the WREC Auditorium, and no pre-registration is required for those planning to attend. After check-in, participants will take part in a guided tour of research plots and field demonstrations, where researchers and extension specialists will discuss ongoing studies related to cover crops and soil health.
The field day will also feature farmer speakers who will share their personal experiences using cover crops on their operations. These presentations will highlight both the successes and challenges producers have encountered, providing practical insight for others considering incorporating cover crops into their farming systems.
